The 55th annual Grammy awards held in Los Angeles on February 10, 2013 had a pre-telecast ceremony and over 80 awards given out. The event was hosted by LL Cool J for a second consecutive time and featured a run time of three and a half hours. The 2013 Grammies also included the addition of three new categories: Best Classical Compendium, Best Latin Jazz Album, and Best Urban Contemporary Album. This brought the total amount of awards given out to 81.
The most wins for the 2013 Grammy Awards went to Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, who won five awards; some included wins with The Black Keys. Other notable winners with three awards each were The Black Keys, Gotye, Jay-Z, Skrillex and Kanye West. Gotye and Kimbra won record of the year for "Somebody That I Used to Know," and Mumford and Sons won best album of the year for "Babel." Other award recipients for the evening included Chick Corea, Fun, Kimbra, Frank Ocean, Matt Redman and Esperanza Spalding.
