"Titanic" stars included Leonard DiCaprio, who played Jack Dawson, a poor man who falls in love with upper-class socialite Rose DeWitt Bukater, played by Kate Winslet, while onboard the ill-fated ship. Billy Zane stars in the movie as Caledon "Cal" Hockley, Rose's betrothed and soon arch-enemy of Jack.
While most of the characters in the movie are fictional, Kathy Bates' character, "the unsinkable" Molly Brown, was a real person who was actually on the Titanic when it foundered. Another "real" character is Captain Edward James Smith, played by Bernard Hill. John Jacob Astor, also a real passenger, is played by "The Young and the Restless" star Eric Braeden. Other notable characters include Spicer Lovejoy, Cal Hockley's valet, played by David Warner, and Brock Lovett, played by Bill Paxton. Victor Garber plays the ship's designer, Thomas Andrews, and Suzy Amis plays Lizzy Calvert.
Jack Dawson's buddy Fabrizio, who won his ticket on the Titanic in a game of cards, is played by Danny Nucci. One of the most beloved actors in the movie is Gloria Stuart, an older woman who plays the old version of Rose.
The movie, which runs more than 3 hours, was written and directed by James Cameron, director of other hits such as "Avatar" and "The Terminator."
