To watch TV on a computer, sign up for a streaming video service, such as Netflix, Hulu Plus or Amazon Instant Video, as of 2015. Some cable and satellite services, such as Time Warner Cable, AT&T U-verse and DirecTV, allow customers to stream their channels online.
Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon Instant Video all charge a subscription fee, with Amazon Instant Video being part of Amazon Prime. They all offer free trials, and Hulu also has content that doesn't require a subscription. All three services offer both TV shows and their own original content.
Cable and satellite services that allow streaming typically provide customers with any channels in their packages. Channels may be available anywhere or only on the customer's home Wi-Fi network.
