Vincent D'Onofrio is considered an "actor's actor," as his dedication to his work is envied by others in his field. He is best known for his performance in "Full Metal Jacket," and in TV shows such as "Daredevil" and "Law and Order: Criminal Intent."
D'Onofrio was born on June 30, 1959, in Brooklyn, New York. After studying at the Actor's Studio and working in theatre, he earned his first major film role in 1987, as Private Leonard Lawrence in "Full Metal Jacket." D'Onofrio gained more than 70 pounds for the role, setting a new record for the greatest weight gain for a film role. In the 1990s, he appeared in smaller roles in a number of films, including "Men in Black," "Ed Wood," "JFK" and "Stuart Saves His Family."
In addition to his film work, D'Onofrio is noted for his work in TV. He played Detective Robert Goren on "Law and Order: Criminal Intent" from 2001 to 2011, for which he was nominated for the Satellite Award for Best Actor. In 2015, he played Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, on the Netflix series "Daredevil." He has also made guest appearances on shows such as "Xavier: Renegade Angel," "Homicide: Life on the Street" and "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver."
