A quick search using the AR BookFinder website is accomplished by selecting a user type (student, parent, teacher or librarian) from the homepage, then clicking the Submit button. The Quick Search tab is available on the following page, allowing searches by authors, titles or topics.
The Quick Search option is one of several on the AR BookFinder website. The Accelerated Reader search, for example, uses a teacher-provided keycode to find recommended children's books suggested by a specific educator.
The Advanced Search tab, located next to the Quick Search tab, expands the options of the former by allowing searches for book titles, author names and ISBN numbers. The search is customizable to find books that contain, start with or exactly match specified search terms. The search criteria can also be narrowed down by interest level, defined by grade level ranges. The Advanced Search also allows queries of topics and subtopics, genres such as fiction or nonfiction, and languages like English and Spanish.
The Collections tab permits perusal of curated lists of recommended reading. It contains categories such as Awards, State Lists, Librarians' Picks and What Kids Are Reading. The first list contains children's literature winners of various Caldecott awards, selected Newberry books and the American Library Association Notable and Best Books.
