Galavision has programming similar to most English speaking television channels, news, soap operas, comedy shows, talk shows and sports programming. The content is all aimed at Spanish speaking viewers, including original programming, popular Spanish sitcoms and even Spanish dubbed Hollywood hits. The channel has been on the air since 1979 and is part of the Miami-based Univision Corporation
While the channel offers a wide range of programming, much of it comes from the sister stations on the Univision platform. These programs are often redone with logos for the Galavision station or banners to indicate at a glance what station a watcher is viewing. The soccer matches are reworked from a secondary feed and the stations own announcers and logos in place of what is played on other Univision channels. Many of the shows that are shown on this channel are old shows from the 1970s, 1980s or 1990s, which are no longer aired on the other Univision channels.
Galavision is not offered on by all satellite and cable companies and viewers interested in watching this channel need to check with their local providers for availability. Consumers may need to purchase an additional channel or package to get this and other Spanish-based channels included in the service package.
