Types of Native American art include pottery, beadwork and basket weaving. Art for most Native Americans was and continues to be a way to express themselves and is often inspired by symbols such as wolves, bears, spirits, family members or themselves.
The Pueblo Indians are well known for their pottery and have specialized in making this type of art for many years. Their specific type of art uses tribal imagery and is hand-molded from spiral clay. The Navajo Indians are known worldwide for their beadwork, which was first made out of shells, teeth and animal bones. However, when European settlers came to America, they brought with them glass, which is now the material of choice for the tribe.
