The television show "The Rifleman" was set in North Fork, New Mexico. This western-themed TV series ran on ABC for five seasons beginning in September 1958 and running through April 1963.
"The Rifleman" chronicled the life of widower Lucas McCain and his specially modified Winchester rifle which shot in rapid-fire sequence. With his rifle, Lucas McCain helped the local marshal, Micah Torrance, maintain order in the town. McCain had a son, Mark, who he was raising by himself, and it was this father-son relationship that provided a heart-warming narrative that ran in contrast to the harsh life on the frontier.
