As of March 2015, six of the top Iranian directors are protesting in favor of a deal that would lift sanctions on Iran in exchange for Iran's promise to never build nuclear weapons. These six directors are Abbas Kiarostami, Asghar Farhadi, Majid Majidi, Mehdi Asgarpour, Rakhshan Bani-Etemad and Reza Mirkarimi.
The six directors support the Iranian Foreign Ministry's campaign to convince other countries, including the United States, to allow Iran to maintain a peaceful nuclear energy program. Using the slogan No2NoDeal, the campaign argues that sanctions hurt the Iranian people but do not prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. Israel, which is an ally of the United States, opposes Iran having any nuclear programs.
