Tom Joyner is a philanthropist and the host of the radio show "The Tom Joyner Morning Show." The show launched in 2005 and is syndicated nationally throughout more than 100 cities in the United States, as of 2015.
In 1998, Joyner founded the Tom Joyner Foundation, which provides financial assistance to students at historically black colleges and universities. Since its foundation, the Tom Joyner Foundation has raised over $60 million for students as HBCUs. Joyner became the first African American to be inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 1998, was inducted into The Official R&B Music Hall of Fame in 2013, and received the Humanitarian Award at the 2015 BET Awards.
