Hanks was married to Samantha Lewes from Jan. 24, 1978 to March 19, 1987. Their son, Colin Hanks, born in 1977, has achieved fame as an actor in his own right, with appearances on shows such as "Life in Pieces," as well as the first season of "Fargo," for which he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie. Colin has also appeared in films such as "King Kong," "The House Bunny" and "The Great Buck Howard."
Hanks has been married to his second wife, actress Rita Wilson, since April 30, 1988, and they have since co-starred in films such as "That Thing You Do!" and "Sleepless in Seattle." They have two children -- Truman, born in 1995, and Chester, an aspiring rapper who uses the stage name Chet Haze. In addition to his wives and children, Hanks has a younger brother, Jim, who is also an actor. Hanks' parents are Amos Hanks and Janet Hanks, who divorced in 1960. Hanks is also a descendant of Abraham Lincoln as a third cousin, four times removed.
