After "Hot Six," "Seven Up" and "Hard Eight," Evanovich wrote a between-the-numbers novel called "Visions of Sugar Plums" in which the hapless bounty hunter Plum meets up with the shadowy Diesel, who becomes a character in another series by Evanovich. "To the Nines," "Ten Big Ones," "Eleven on Top" and "Twelve Sharp" included the usual cast of Trenton, New Jersey characters and Plum teaming up with sidekick Lula, but "Plum Lovin'" saw the return of Diesel in Plum's life.

Evanovich continued the series with "Lean Mean Thirteen," "Plum Lucky," "Fearless Fourteen," "Plum Spooky" and "Finger Lickin' Fifteen." The author followed up with "Sizzling Sixteen," "Smokin' Seventeen," "Explosive Eighteen," "Notorious Nineteen" and "Takedown Twenty." Evanovich published the first book in the series in 1994, and "Top Secret Twenty-One" came out 20 years later in 2014.

Evanovich has won numerous awards, including the Crime Writers Association's John Creasy Memorial, Last Laugh and Silver Dagger awards. She has twice won the Independent Mystery Booksellers Association's Dilys award.
