Telemundo is a media company that produces and distributes Spanish-language content for Hispanic audiences in the United States and around the world. A division of NBCUniversal, Telemundo is headquartered in Miami, Florida. Telemundo’s platforms include Telemundo Network, which is a Spanish television network that airs theatrical motion pictures, telenovelas, reality shows, sports events and news to audiences in over 210 markets in the world.
Another platform that is part of Telemundo is Telemundo Digital Media. The platform enhances the distribution of original digital content through mobile devices and the Internet. Telemundo Digital Media distributes content online through websites such as Telemundo.com and Mun2.tv. Telemundo also operates a full power station, WKAQ-TV, which reaches 99 percent of households in the United States and Puerto Rico.
Telemundo shoots most of its projects in its Miami-based studio. One of Telemundo's most successful programs as judged by ratings is the telenovela series, "Rosa Diamante." Telemundo has translated most of its telenovelas into more than 35 languages and sells them in over 100 countries through its international distribution arm, Telemundo Internacional. Telemundo has over 1,900 employees all over the world. Comcast controls Telemundo after completing an acquisition deal in which it attained 51 percent of NBCUniversal in 2011.
