Television personality Tamron Hall recently learned to swim after suffering a panic attack in the water, according to a 2014 Today report. Hall's sister-in-law taught her to swim using the same techniques she used to instruct her own young children.
Following her successful efforts to learn to swim, Hall joined the Red Cross “Make a Splash” initiative. The program provides water safety education to communities and encourages everyone to acquire five basic skills designed to prevent drowning. Less than half of all adults have mastered these essential water safety skills, according to Today. The Red Cross campaign aims to reduce drowning incidents in several cities by 50 percent over the next few years.
