She has two Emmy nominations and one win; she was nominated for "Education Nation" in 2010 and for her 1999 segment "The Bottom Line," and she won the Emmy for her part in covering Barack Obama's first inauguration. She works with charities and organizations that strive to end homelessness, illiteracy and domestic violence. Her broadcasting career began in Texas at KBTX.
