Susan Boyle's first audition song was "I Dreamed a Dream," a song made popular by the musical "Les Miserables." She sang her rendition of the song during the first round of the British show "Britain's Got Talent," which aired on April 11, 2009.
Susan had first heard the song "I Dreamed a Dream" while she was working at West Lothian College. She was captivated by the piece while watching a performance of "Les Miserables" at a local theater. In the musical, the piece is sung by the character Fantine, who is remembering her lover, the father of her child, who had abandoned both mother and child.
On the show, Susan Boyle eventually lost to a dance troupe; however, she had already gained international fame. In November 2009, Susan Boyle released her first album with the title "I Dreamed a Dream," which became a success.
