Steve Perry is not dead, as of Dec. 17, 2015. Perry was previously the lead singer of Journey, and he continues to produce music as an individual artist.
Perry was born in 1949, and he achieved fame when he became a member of Journey in 1977. Prior to leaving the band in 1987, Perry performed vocals on "Don't Stop Believin'" in 1981, which would become the band's signature song. Perry lives on the outskirts of San Diego, California, where he writes and performs music in his personal studio. In 2014, Perry performed his first concert in over 20 years, telling the Hollywood Reporter that he was eager to perform again after getting his personal life in order.
