To draw a rose, start by making a swirl and some curvy lines and connecting them to create the flower. The final steps are to add the stem and leaves. This should take less than 10 minutes.
- Draw a swirly eye
Draw a shape like the top of an eye from left to right. As you draw the bottom of the eye from right to left do not close the eye. Continue beyond the starting point a little to the left and start to draw a larger eye shape. Make three or four concentric eye shapes to give the appearance of a swirl to represent the inner petals.
- Draw three S-shapes
Draw a narrow backward S from the left edge of the eye swirl down. Add another just to the left of the first one. Draw a forward S on the right that is symmetrical to the outer backward S on the left. Connect these shapes at the bottom with a curved line to form a cup shape. These represent the outer petals.
- Close the lines
Add a line shaped like a bent fishing pole from about the center of the bottom of the cup to the top of the S on the right. Add a much smaller similar line extending from the top of the outer S on the left to just below the top of the inner S on the left. Draw a straight line that slightly bends inward down from each corner of the eye swirl to the nearest line. The flower is now closed.
- Draw a stem and leaves to complete the rose
Draw two narrowly spaced straight lines down from the base of the cup shape to represent the stem. Add two slightly pointed elliptical leaves, with the smallest one at the top, to complete the drawing.
