William Levy and Jacqueline Bracamontes star in the Mexican telenovela “Sortilegio.” Levy plays the role of Alejandro Lombardo, a wealthy young man that is left in charge of his family’s real estate business. Bracamontes plays the role of Maria Jose Samaniego, a young peasant woman who lives with her father and sister. Both the actor and actress play the show’s main protagonists, while David Zepeda and Ana Brenda Contreras play the roles of the main villains.
Lombardo’s half-brother Bruno Sarmiento, played by Zepeda, creates a plan to assassinate Lombardo and inherit the family business. During the series, both brothers also fall in love with Samaniego and begin to fight over her love. Contreras plays the role of Maura Albaran, a woman who is in love with Lombardo and has a previous relationship with him. When she learns of his attraction to Samaniego, she decides to find a way to destroy the relationship.
Debuting in 2009, “Sortilegio” aired on Univision until 2010, with a total of 95 episodes. After airing on Univision, reruns of the series moved to Galavision and eventually moved to the TL Novelas network, as of 2015. The series is a remake of the 1985 TV series, “Tu o Nadie,” starring Lucia Mendez and Andres Garcia.
