Shows on the Discovery Kids channel include "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic," "Littlest Pet Shop" and "Funniest Pets and People." After its takeover of The Hub Network, the channel still displays remnants of the Hasbro-funded cartoons.
Discovery Kids took over the Hub, the station that Hasbro used to market its toy lines to younger audiences. A couple of shows remained following the takeover.
One of the newer shows on Discovery Kids is "Littlest Pet Shop", a cartoon that tells the stories of various animals as they try to get adopted. But the real juggernaut of the channel's cartoon programming is "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic." The fourth incarnation of the old toy line marketed at young girls, the show has achieved massive success largely due to the Brony phenomenon that was born on the Internet. Known for its cross-generational humor, good animation and embrace of the strange fandom that has evolved around it, millions of Bronies and Pegasisters, as well as their younger siblings, worldwide tune in every Saturday to watch Twilight Sparkle and her friends adventure across Equestria.
Discovery Kids also has its fair share of educational programming typical of the Discovery lineup. The Kratt Brothers both run shows about animal life on the channel, and the occasional special pops up when there's a lull in the programming.
