Kait Parker is originally from Texas and attended the University of Missouri, where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Science. She began working for WPTV-TV in 2010 as weekend morning meteorologist. She later switched to the position of weekday morning meteorologist, which she still holds as of 2015.
In addition to working for WPTV-TV, Parker teaches a class called Earth's Climate Systems to graduate students at SUNY Brockport. The course was developed by NASA in conjunction with the American Meteorological Society. Parker has held this instructor position since September 2012.
Parker has worked in various capacities for several other news stations in addition to WPTV-TV. From 2007 to 2008, she served as a fill-in meteorologist for KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri. She completed an internship with WFAA in Dallas, Texas, during which time she created graphics for the evening webcasts. Next, she was a meteorologist for WAKA CBS 8 in Montgomery, Alabama, from May 2009 to December 2010.
During her studies at the University of Missouri, Parker served as an instructor for a course on storm chasing. She was also a member of the Meteorology Club's leadership board and participated in climate research. Aside from meteorology, her interests include reading and animals, according to her website.
