As of 2015, Agora does not operate a publishing company under its own name but instead provides publishing services for a wide range of topics through its affiliate companies and subsidiaries. Agora's network of publishing companies release publications in the forms of books that cover financial, health, special interest and travel topics, as well as newsletters. Agora states that its publications reach over one million global readers through both physical print and online media.
Agora publishes over 40 newsletters and 300 books through its network of affiliated companies in over 17 countries around the world. The company itself operates out of its main headquarters in the Mount Vernon district in Baltimore and uses mansions from the 19th century as its office. A majority of Agora's subsidiary companies are located in the United States, including Agora Financial, The Institute for Natural Healing, The Oxford Club, Wall Street Daily and Laissez Faire Books. Other subsidiary companies are located in Ireland, England and South Africa, including International Living, MoneyWeek, Agora Lifestyles and Fleet Street Publications.
Agora began operations as an incorporated company in Washington, D.C., in 1979 with the release of International Living. The company's first publication focused on travel and retirement, and, as of 2015, it has a global subscription base of approximately 100,000.
