Filmmakers cancelled a planned sequel for "Eragon" after the first film received extremely negative reviews. Unless the studio backing "Eragon" decides differently, there are no plans for a sequel to "Eragon."
"Eragon" is the first book in a series of young adult novels, and the movie based on the first book performed well at the box office, earning almost $250 million across the globe after its release in 2006. Critical reviews of the movie were not positive, though, and movie review website Rotten Tomatoes lists "Eragon" at an only 16 percent approval rating. These poor reviews led to the cancellation of any potential films in the series.
