As of January 2016, Robin Roberts has not been fired from her role as presenter of "Good Morning America." She temporarily left the show on medical leave in 2012 because, having successfully fought breast cancer, she contracted myelodysplastic syndrome. "Good Morning America" was Number One in ratings when she left.
Roberts returned to GMA in February 2013. Though she initially appeared only a few days a week, her popularity was such that she was chosen as a host for the 2013 Academy Awards.
Since then, she has gone from strength to strength. In 2013, she received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, and a year later, she came out as a gay woman.
