"Heat Wave," "Naked Heat" and "Storm Front" are published books attributed to Richard Castle, a fictional character played by Nathan Fillion on television's "Castle." Other titles listed on RichardCastle.net, such as "In a Hail of Bullets" and "A Skull in Springtime," never existed.
Hyperion Books' Nikki Heat series involves journalist Jameson Rook, a fictionalized version of the already fiction Castle, who is working with Nikki Heat, the fictionalized version of television's fictional detective Becket. The books include "Heat Rises," "Frozen Heat," "Dead Heat," "Raging Heat" and "Driving Heat."
Hyperion also publishes Castle's "Derrick Storm" series, including "Storm Front," "A Brewing Storm" and "A Raging Storm." The book, "Ultimate Storm: A Derrick Storm Omnibus", is a collection of the first three titles featuring Derrick Storm. The company partnered with Marvel Comics to produce graphic novels based on some non-existent "Derrick Storm" books. Those illustrated books are "Castle: A Calm Before the Storm," "Castle: Richard Castle's Storm Season" and "Castle: Unholy Storm."
Hyperion Books developed the Richard Castle books as a marketing tie-in for its sister company, the American Broadcasting Company. Admitting that the real author has appeared on the show, ABC uses Nathan Fillion's photo on all promotional materials, going so far as to print interviews in USA Today and testimonials from real authors.
