In 2014, Regal served approximately 220 million movie patrons. Many locations offer digital projection, IMAX format capabilities, digital 3D, Dolby sound systems and recliner seating.
In 2002, Regal Cinemas, United Artists Theaters and Edwards Theaters were consolidated into single ownership by the Regal Entertainment Group, although all three brand names continue to be used by theater sites. Since then, Regal has acquired several smaller chains of movie theaters.
