Opened in 2004, the Regal Majestic theater in Silver Spring, Maryland has 20 screens as of 2015. It is operated by Regal Cinemas and shows first run, mainstream movies. Majestic also offers movies in IMAX and RealD 3-D formats.
The Majestic movie theater, officially called the Regal Majestic Stadium 20 & IMAX, is located at 900 Ellsworth Drive. The theater includes 4,500 seats and offers stadium, luxury and reserve seating. Automated kiosks are available to buy tickets, or patrons can print their tickets at home or use mobile tickets on their smartphones. The theater features arcade games in a game room and a large selection of food and beverages. Besides concession stands, there is also a cafe in the theater.
The Regal Majestic has many accessibility options available for a range of special needs. Auditoriums are wheelchair accessible. The theater also provides special access glasses using Sony's holographic technology to project closed captioning text for movies. A holographic image of the text appears to float between the viewer and the screen but only on the glasses, so those without the glasses do not see the closed captioning. There are also assistive headsets for deaf and hearing impaired people who do not wear hearing aids, as well as special equipment to deliver sound to hearing aids. These headsets are also used to provide described video for the blind and visually impaired.
