"The Talk" has aired recipes such as grilled pork chops marinated with honey, oil, vinegar and spices and Mexican steak and cheese sandwiches in pita bread. The cooking segments were hosted by visiting chefs Sunny Anderson and Pati Jinich respectively, and each recipe serves four.
To make grilled pork chops, prepare a marinade by combining 1/4 cup of honey, 1 teaspoon of cumin, 1/2 teaspoon of red chili flakes, 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a plastic bag. Place 8 thin-cut pork chops in the marinade and rest them for one hour. Remove the pork chops and season with kosher salt and black pepper to taste. Grill the chops on a grill or in a grill pan for three minutes on each side.
To make Mexican steak and cheese sandwiches, cut 12 ounces of skirt steak into four pieces and season with salt and pepper to taste. Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and cook the steak for about two minutes per side or until browned. Rest the meat for five minutes, then slice it thinly across the grain and cut it into bite-sized pieces. Grill four pitas for about one minute per side, then cut them in half and stuff them with meat and 8 ounces divided of shredded cheddar, Muenster, Monterey jack or mozzarella cheese. Grill the sandwiches until they are browned and the cheese is fully melted.
