On the Project Gutenberg website, search for a book using the Book Search Page or Book Categories menu options. After you choose a book, a new page opens with information about the book, such as the bibliographic record, similar book recommendations and downloadable formats. To read an e-book on a computer, click on the Read This Book Online option. To read a book on an e-reader device or smartphone, click on the Kindle, EPUB or iPad option.
As of 2015, Project Gutenberg contains over 50,000 online books. Most of the books are works of fiction, non-fiction, poetry or drama. Each book is available in English, though some e-books have translations in French, Portuguese, German and Chinese. All of the website's e-books are free to read or download.
