The Asheville Citizen-Times website gives all viewers a limited number of free page views. To clear the page view limit, erase the browser's history including cookies. To view stories without incurring page views, either run the browser in private mode, access the story through social media links, navigate to the story through Google, or use a different Internet browser. These methods may work in certain browsers and not others.
After 10 views, the website displays a pop-up window asking the user to register. When viewing an article, click on the key symbol to show a count of how many free page views are left.
To activate private mode, which has different names in different browsers, open the browser settings. In Google Chrome, open an Incognito Window to view articles. In Safari or Firefox, turn on Private Browsing. These modes prevent the browser from recording its history and using cookies.
Access to the Citizen-Times website is free for subscribers to the newspaper, but subscribers must first activate their digital access. From the home page, click on Subscribe Now in the top right corner. On the subscription page, click on Activate Your Digital Access. Enter the zip code and phone number associated with the subscription, then follow the steps to create a user name and password for future logins.
