Rachael Ray is a celebrity chef known for her nationally syndicated television talk show, "Rachael Ray." She has also hosted several cooking shows, written many popular cookbooks and launched her own magazine. Ray's work carries a theme of focusing on recipes that are simple and fast.
Rachael Ray was born in New York in 1968. Ray grew up surrounded by people in the restaurant business, and she immediately went into the food industry herself. Eventually, she began to host cooking segments on local news networks. This led to a contract with The Food Network as well as a book deal. Ray quickly set herself apart with her bubbly attitude and easy sense of humor.
She has hosted four shows on The Food Network, "30 Minute Meals," "$40 a Day," "Inside Dish" and "Rachael Ray's Tasty Travels." In 2005, Ray launched the cooking-centered magazine "Every Day With Rachael Ray." The next year, she debuted her self-titled talk show, which features interviews, cooking segments and other lifestyle content, such as audience member makeovers. She has won a Daytime Emmy award for her work on the show. Ray also runs her own non-profit organization, "Yum-O!" that works to educate families about good nutrition and to help alleviate child hunger.
