Paul Wahlberg was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts. He was the fifth of nine children born to Donald Wahlberg and Alma McPeck. Paul is an accomplished chef who stars in the A&E television series "Wahlburgers" and has appeared on Rachel Ray's cooking television show. He is also the owner and chef of Alma Nove, a Hingham, Massachusetts restaurant named after Paul's mother.
Paul was attracted to cooking from an early age and would often spend his time in the family kitchen with his mother Alma. According to Paul, his love for cooking was influenced by the Sunday suppers the Wahlbergs would host for family and friends. Two of his younger siblings are Mark and Donnie Wahlberg, who are both accomplished actors and producers.
Paul began his career in high school washing dishes in his friend's family restaurant and working part-time for a catering company. He gradually worked his way up in local kitchens, then spent time working in Boston-area kitchens including The Charles Hotel and The Four Seasons. Paul eventually became an executive chef at Bridgeman's in Hull, Massachusetts. He held the position for nine years.
As of 2015, Paul is the owner and executive chef of Alma Nove, a restaurant with Italian and Mediterranean fare. The menu includes dishes such as Braised Pork Meatballs with Polenta, Sauteed Prince Edward Island Mussels, Tagliatelli with Short Ribs, and Pan-Seared Halibut.
