The National Enquirer ran an image of the late Whitney Houston on its front cover, showing her in an open gold casket. The image, which the photographer captured at a private viewing, shows Houston wearing makeup, a purple dress, jewelry worth $500,000 and gold slippers.
Houston died on Feb. 11, 2012, the eve of the Grammy Awards, at age 48. She accidentally drowned in her Beverley Hilton hotel room bathtub. Heart disease and cocaine use also contributed to Houston's death. As of 2015, Houston is one of the world's best-selling recording artists, having sold between 170 and 200 million records.
