In 2006, Lucas Oil purchased the naming rights to Lucas Oil Stadium, the home of the Indianapolis Colts. In 2012, Business News Daily reported that the deal cost $122 million for a 20-year contract. At the time, Lucas Oil only had 400 employees. Forrest Lucas contributed $1 million towards bringing the Super Bowl to Indianapolis in 2012, and he was successful. Lucas Oil Stadium was selected over Reliant Stadium in Houston and University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ.
Lucas Oil owns racing teams and a racing series. The company also sponsors drivers in several motor sports events, including drag racing, aviation, boat racing and monster trucks.
