According to Billboard.com, some of Prince's most popular songs are "When Doves Cry," "Kiss" and "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World." "When Doves Cry" and "Kiss" both reached the number one spot on the Hot 100 chart, while "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" reached number three.
"When Doves Cry" is by Prince and The Revolution. Released in 1984, the single spent five weeks in the number one position on the Hot 100 chart. It was the lead single on Prince's "Purple Rain" album and the top selling single of the year. In the song, Prince sings about love and difficulty with parents. Prince played every instrument on the song and didn't include a bass line because he felt it made the song sound too conventional.
"Kiss" is also by Prince and The Revolution. The song was released in 1986 on Prince's "Parade" album, and it spent two weeks atop the Hot 100 chart. Prince gave a one-minute acoustic demo to the band Mazarati, who changed it significantly. When Prince heard the band's version, he took the song back and added his lead vocals along with other changes. He left Mazarati's backing vocals.
"The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" is from Prince's "The Gold Experience" album. Released in 1994, the song is a serenade that may have been written for Mayte Garcia, Prince's fiancé when it was released.
