Among the most popular Spanish painters are Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, El Greco, Diego Velázquez and Francisco Goya. Each was particularly influential on both the Spanish and world stages of painting and art.
Pablo Picasso is, perhaps, the most famous of all Spanish painters on an international scale. He was the core developer of the artistic movement known as cubism, which is often marked as the beginning of modern art. Some of Picasso's best-known paintings include "Guernica," "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon" and "The Weeping Woman."
Salvador Dalí was a major contributor in the surrealist movement. Surrealism focused on the unconscious mind and dreams. Dalí is often remembered for his paintings "The Persistence of Memory" and "Soft Construction with Boiled Beans (Premonition of Civil War)."
