"Tears on My Pillow," "Shimmy, Shimmy, Ko-Ko Bop," "Goin’ Out of My Head," "Hurt So Bad" and "I’m Falling in Love With You" are some of the most popular songs by Little Anthony and the Imperials, says the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Little Anthony and the Imperials had many successful singles throughout their career due to their stage presence, vocal performances and ability to redefine their sound as the music industry changed around them.
"Tears on My Pillow," from the album "We Are the Imperials," featuring Little Anthony, was the group's first hit and reached number two on the R&B chart and number four on the pop chart. The dance song "Shimmy, Shimmy, Ko-Ko Bop" solidified Little Anthony and the Imperials' place in the industry, as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame reports. This song was followed by hits such as "Goin’ Out of My Head," and “Hurt So Bad” that were well-received despite the popularity of the British Invasion and Motown sounds at the time.
Although Little Anthony and the Imperials started in the 1950s, they continued to have success up through the 1970s with singles such as "Take Me Back" and "I Miss You So." They would continue to make music for much longer, but the song "I’m Falling in Love With You" was their last significant hit. Little Anthony and the Imperials ended up placing 20 singles on the pop or R&B charts during three different decades.
