Some popular festivals in Ohio are the Columbus Jazz & Rib Fest, Ohio State Fair, Columbus Arts Festival, Dalton Holiday Festival and the Ohio Sauerkraut Festival. Other popular festivals are the Fall Festival of Leaves, Oak Harbor Apple Festival, Holmes County Antique Festival and Columbus Asian Festival.
The Columbus Jazz & Rib Fest was established in 1979. The festival takes place in downtown Columbus and features three stages of live jazz music by local, regional and international artists. The festival offers a selection of food and drinks, including ribs and chicken, and holds contests for the best barbecue sauce and the best ribs. Visitors can attend both the contests and festival free of charge.
The Ohio State Fair first started in 1850 and attracts more than 825,000 visitors each year, as of 2015. The 12-day long festival features animals, rides, exhibits, food, games, contests and concerts. With around 300 commercial exhibitors, shoppers can find clothing, kitchenware, cleaning supplies and more. Over 100 food vendors provide fairgoers a variety of food options, including over 30 different food options on a stick. In 2015, the fair was named among the best state fairs in a readers' choice contest held by USA Today.
