Some of the best-selling book series for boys are: "Diary of a Wimpy Kid," "Dork Diaries," "Harry Potter," "Heroes of Olympus" and "Magic Tree House." In addition to "Heroes of Olympus," Rick Riordan's other series, including "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" and "The Kane Chronicles," are very popular as well.
Old classics may also become new favorites. Book series such as "The Hardy Boys," "The Chronicles of Narnia" and "The Lord of the Rings" have stood the test of time. To encourage reading, a parent or teacher can offer a variety of books from which to choose and see what interests the child, even if the books are at a lower reading level. Boys sometimes get frustrated as they try to advance to higher reading levels, but if they find a book series that they love, they are likely to learn a love for reading and advance on their own.
