Louis Penny's most popular book series is the Inspector Gamache series. As of 2015, eleven books have been written in this mystery series. The Inspector Gamache series features the head of a homicide police department in Quebec, Canada.
Penny is primarily a mystery author and incorporates traditional elements of murder mystery into her work, often revealing the murderer only at the very end of each novel. Many of her books have won literary awards, including the Debut Dagger competition, the Dilys Award, the Anthony Award and the Barry Award.
Penny's first work, "Still Life," was adapted into a movie and premiered in 2013. This movie featured the actor Nathaniel Parker as Chief Inspector Gamache.
