"Star Wars Episode 7" is about the entwined fates of a prince, a scavenger, a soldier and a pilot as each character makes a journey to find the most powerful warrior in the galaxy. The plot occurs approximately 30 years after "Return of the Jedi." The movie is also called "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
Kylo Ren is a ruthless, power-hungry prince seeking a lightsaber that fell out of space. Poe Dameron is an X-wing pilot who collaborates with runaway soldier Finn and scavenger Rey to find Luke Skywalker, who they believe is the most powerful warrior in the galaxy. They want Skywalker to defeat Kylo Ren. The characters meet Hans Solo and Chewbacca during their journey. They also seek the Jedi Master to return the lightsaber to its owner.
The Walt Disney Company acquired LucasFilms in October 2012, and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is the company's first film in the new "Star Wars" sequel trilogy. J.J. Abrams directed, co-produced and co-wrote the film with Lawrence Kasdan, who wrote the original "The Empire Strikes Back" and "The Return of the Jedi" films. The crew filmed the movie in Abu Dhabi, Ireland, England and Iceland. Disney expects to make over $1 billion in profits.
