Patsy Cline is buried in Shenandoah Memorial Park in Winchester, Virginia. Killed in a plane crash in Tennessee on March 5, 1963, Cline was returned to her hometown and buried on March 10.
Cline was flying home from a benefit concert in Kansas City, Missouri, when the small plane she was traveling in, piloted by her manager, crashed in high winds and heavy rain near Camden, Tennessee. After a prayer service in Nashville, her remains were returned to Virginia for burial, where her funeral attracted extensive media coverage and drew thousands of fans. Born Virginia Patterson Hensley and married to Charlie Dick, the bronze plaque marking her grave reads “Virginia H. (Patsy Cline) Dick”.
