The original host of the long-running American TV game show "Family Feud" was Richard Dawson. Among the subsequent hosts was the ill-fated Ray Combs. The show is in syndication as of 2015, and its host is Steve Harvey.
Dawson pioneered "Family Feud" on ABC in 1976. He remained with the show until 1985, and he later returned for the 1994-95 season. From 1988 to 1994, the show was hosted by Combs. Facing both marital and financial difficulties, Combs hanged himself in the closet of the psychiatric ward where he was being held for observation in June 1996.
Ranked third by TV Guide in 2013 on its list of the 60 greatest game shows of all time, "Family Feud" was also hosted by Louie Anderson (1999 to 2002), Richard Karn (2002 to 2006) and John O'Hurley (2006 to 2010). With Harvey (since 2010) as host, the program has enjoyed new heights of popularity.
