Wahida Clark's "Order of the Thug" series includes six books as of 2013, and they are often classified as "gritty, urban dramas." Though other characters sometimes take center stage, the series primarily follows the relationship of streetwise Tasha and her "thug," Trae.
Clark penned the first novel in her "Order of the Thug" series, "Thugs and the Women Who Love Them," while serving an almost 10-year sentence for money laundering, wire fraud and mail fraud. It and its sequel, "Every Thug Needs a Lady," appeared on the Essence Magazine, USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists. Other books in the series include "Thug Matrimony," "Thug Lovin'" and "Justify My Thug," each of which explore urban life and crime. Sex, drugs and murder play roles in the books as well.
The sixth book in the series, "Honor Thy Thug," finds Trae and Tasha fighting to save their marriage, despite Tasha's ongoing affair with Kyron. Angel and Kaye, two characters who have been around since the first book in the series, also become embroiled in the affair. Meanwhile, Jaz and Faheem face a life-or-death situation, and Marvin decides to do anything to escape his past. The series spawned two spin-offs attributed to characters in the novels, Tasha's "Baller Dreams" and Trae's "Flippin the Hustle." Clark also runs Twitter and Facebook accounts in the character's names.
