Set in the summer of 1914, "The Walnut Tree" is about a young lady's life being turned upside down when the Germans begin to invade Belgium and France. "The Murder Stone" takes place in the autumn of 1916 and tells about a young woman whose grandfather dies; subsequently, a stranger turns up, accusing the late grandfather of murder.
