Hulu and Crackle are both options for watching full-length episodes of TV shows for free. As of December 2015, both ad-supported services offer free shows available to watch on personal computers, set-top digital media players, video game consoles, tablets and smartphones.
Hulu carries free content from major networks such as NBC, ABC, CBS and FOX, as well as lesser known networks such as Esquire and G4. Recent episodes of many shows are available to watch for free at Hulu.com or by installing the Hulu app. These episodes are typically only available for a limited time and are sometimes taken down without notice. Hulu also offers a limited amount of free original content.
Crackle is an entirely free service available on several platforms, offering full-length episodes of several older shows from a variety of networks, as well as original content. Crackle also offers a service known as Always On that streams scheduled, programmed content similar to traditional broadcast television. Content on Crackle refreshes monthly and, like Hulu, is sometimes removed without warning.
Many network websites also offer full episodes for free. Sites such as ABC.com offer free sample episodes as well as whole seasons of select shows. Many of these are only available for a limited time.
Free services such as Yahoo! Screen also offer a limited selection of free full-length original TV episodes. Unlike Hulu, Yahoo! Screen offers entire seasons of its original programs for free.
