As of August 2015, acclaimed first-call session guitarist Jimmy Capps is 76 years old. Born on May 25, 1939, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, he was raised in Benson, which is also in North Carolina.
Capps grew up listening to the Grand Ole Opry, a weekly stage concert for country music in Nashville. In 1958, he joined the Louvin Brothers band and performed at the Grand Ole Opry for the first time. Almost a decade later in 1967, he became a member and continues to be one as of 2015. In 2014, Capps was inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame for his more than 50 years of career achievements.
