Some novels in V.C. Andrews' "Dollanganger" series include "Flowers in the Attic," "Petals on the Wind" and "If There Be Thorns." Andrews has written several other series including "The Casteel Series," "The Cutler Series" and "The Landry Series."
Known for Gothic novels, V.C. Andrews spent much of her life wheelchair bound due to crippling arthritis. She helped support her mother and other family members as an illustrator and portrait painter. She became frustrated with the lack of creativity in her field, however, and began writing in secret.
Her first novel, "Gods of Green Mountain," was completed in 1972. She then began work on what would become the "Dollanganger" series. Andrews died of breast cancer in 1986.
