The legal way for streaming NHL games is through NHL.com's GameCenter Live. The service allows subscribers to stream games online through their mobile devices or through entertainment centers. NHL GameCenter offers live streaming of NHL games, but only those considered out of market, which means teams in a subscriber's local viewing area are not available on GameCenter.
To sign up for NHL GameCenter Live, customers must visit Subscribe.NHL.com and choose a subscription package. The All-Access package allows subscribers to stream games for any out-of-market team. These subscribers also have access to past season archives and classic games. The Single Team package is a discounted option that allows subscribers to stream only one team's games. Single Team subscribers only have access to archived games from the current season.
Both packages are available on computers, tablets, phones, set-top boxes and gaming consoles. Once subscribers have chosen a package, they need to use a credit card or PayPal to purchase NHL GameCenter Live. They can pay the entire fee up front or set up monthly billing.
To stream a game on the computer, subscribers must visit GameCenterLive.NHL.com and use their username and password to sign in. Then they click the Watch tab for the desired game. They can also choose the home or away team's broadcast.
