Some of the major national competitions for marching bands include Bands of America and USBands. Widely regarded as the nation's most prestigious marching band contest, the National Championship of Bands of America is a three-day event held annually at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 2015, the competition featured performances by 95 bands from around the country and attracted over 55,000 viewers to the event. The championship represents the culmination of 19 band competitions held throughout the year.
Regional competitions are also hosted around the country during the fall months. Held in Sioux Falls, Iowa, the Festival of Bands draws competitors from South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota. Another popular competition, the Youth in Bands Marching Bands Championship, features student musicians from across Wisconsin and Minnesota. State-wide competitions are also conducted across the country throughout the fall season, including the UIL State Contest held in Texas.
The World Association of Marching Show Bands hosts an international competition that brings together bands from across the globe. In 2015, the event was held in Copenhagen, Denmark. Intended to foster global cooperation between musicians, the Association, which is headquartered in the Province of Alberta, Canada, includes members from six continents and 32 countries, including Japan, Brazil, Denmark and the United Kingdom.
